Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, and what your rights are. We've kept it short and in plain English.
Who we are
Luke Meunier, trading as Thunderbird IT ("Thunderbird IT", "we") is the controller of the personal information described here. Our business address is 33 Burgess Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 5NP, UK. Our ICO registration number is [ICO NUMBER].
For any privacy question, contact privacy@thunderbirdit.co.uk.
The enquiry form
Our enquiry form is provided by Google Forms. It is shown on our Contact page, so Google loads it whenever that page is opened (see Cookies and tracking). You don't have to use it: you can email us instead.
What we collect
- Your name and your business name
- Your email address
- The number of staff in your business
- What you need help with, and anything you write in your message
Why, and our lawful basis
We use this information only to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to talk to you about the work. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to people who contact us about our services. We don't use it for marketing and we don't sell or share it.
Where it goes
Your answers are stored in our Google Workspace account. Google processes them on our behalf under its data processing terms. Google may transfer data outside the UK; where it does, it relies on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
Google's cookies
When the form loads, Google may set cookies and process technical information (such as your IP address and browser details) to display the form, protect it from abuse and keep it secure. These are Google's, set within the form itself. If you'd rather not have Google load the form, email us instead.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for [RETENTION — suggest 12 months, Luke to confirm] after our last contact with you, unless you become a client, in which case we keep what we need to run the work.
Emailing us
If you email us, we use what you send only to reply and to deal with your request, on the same basis and for the same period as enquiries made through the form.
Cookies and tracking
Our own pages set no cookies. Three things involve Google:
Analytics (only if you accept)
Our cookie banner asks whether you accept Google Analytics (GA4). If you accept, Google sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, browser and device details and the pages you visit, so we can see how the site is used and improve it. We rely on your consent for this. If you reject, or don't answer, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie choices" button at the foot of any page; rejecting after accepting stops measurement and removes Google's analytics cookies from this site. We don't use analytics data to identify individual visitors, and we don't use it for advertising.
Fonts and the enquiry form (always loaded)
- our fonts (Google Fonts), on every page; and
- the enquiry form (Google Forms), on the Contact page.
When these load, your browser contacts Google, which receives your IP address and browser details, and the form may set cookies. These are Google's, not ours. We load Google Fonts so the site looks as designed, and the form so you can contact us. If you'd rather avoid this, you can block Google Fonts or the form in your browser, or contact us by email, and the site still works. To remove cookies Google has set, clear them in your browser settings.
Your cookie choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, which only this site can read, and is not sent to us or anyone else. Google's use of this information is described in Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Hosting
This website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attack. It acts as our processor for this purpose.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it if it's wrong
- ask us to delete it
- object to us using it, or ask us to restrict how we use it
To use any of these rights, contact privacy@thunderbirdit.co.uk. We'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change this notice, we'll update it on this page.
